	Israel Requires Warnings on Cell Phones "Warning - the Health Ministry cautions that heavy use and carrying the device next to the body may increase the risk of cancer, especially among children." A bill that requires cell phones to carry a warning label passed its first review in the Israeli Knesset. The law also requires that all phones be sold with headsets, that advertisements feature this warning and that industry fund public educational campaigns. Israel has also created the first national Institute to study the potential health effects of cell phones and other wireless devices and make recommendations to to minimize exposure to microwave radiation.

	World Health Organization (WHO) Panel Connects Potential Cancer Cause to Cell Phone Use As reported by the Associated Press, the New York Times' "Well" blog, and by CNN.com (among others), an international panel of experts has issued a statement announcing their findings that cell phones are possibly carcinogenic to humans after reviewing details from dozens of published studies. The statement was issued in Lyon, France, on Tuesday by the International Agency for Research on Cancer after a weeklong meeting of experts. As reported by Bloomberg, the IARC reviewed possible links between cancer and the type of electromagnetic radiation found in cell phones, microwaves and radar. The agency is the cancer arm of the World Health Organization. A team of 31 scientists from 14 countries, including the U.S., made the decision after reviewing peer-reviewed studies on cell phone safety. The team found enough evidence to categorize personal exposure as "possibly carcinogenic to humans." This means they found some evidence of increase in glioma and acoustic neuroma brain cancer for mobile phone users, but have not been able to draw conclusions for other types of cancers. Of course, if the WHO decides after further consideration that cellphones are indeed dangerous to users, this news is potentially the biggest story of the year. The agency has known for many years the direct ties to cancer that dangerous drugs, medical devices and treatment therapies can sometimes possess – but according to recent research by cellphone industry group CTIA, more than 80% of US citizens own a cellphone, so this news could shape an entire agency.
	The panel of experts classified cell phones in category 2B, meaning they are possibly carcinogenic to humans. Other substances in that category include the pesticide DDT and gasoline engine exhaust. Last year, results of a large study found no clear link between cell phones and cancer. But some advocacy groups contend the study raised serious concerns because it showed a hint of a possible connection between very heavy phone use and glioma, a rare but often deadly form of brain tumor. However, the numbers in that subgroup weren't sufficient to make the case. But the radiation produced by cellphones cannot directly damage DNA and is different from stronger types of radiation like X-rays or ultraviolet light. 	The European Environmental Agency has pushed for more studies, saying cell phones could be as big a public health risk as smoking, asbestos and leaded gasoline. Manufacturers of many popular cell phones already warn consumers to keep their device away from their body: the Apple iPhone 4 safety manual, for instance, says users' radiation exposure should not exceed FCC guidelines. This means keeping the phone at least 15 millimeters (5/8 inch) away from your body when using the phone over a cellular network.

	DNA Damage from Cell Phone Use For the sake of human survival, mankind must quickly master this critical fact: modern wireless technology is capable of causing the genetic destruction of humans as a species. Microwave radiation used for wireless communications and surveillance is extremely injurious to human DNA. 	Besides the REFLEX work, there are an additional 17 published scientific papers documenting abnormal changes in DNA exposed to cell phone radiation and other frequencies in the microwave bands. Microwave radiation-defined as electromagnetic waves ranging from 300 million hertz to 300 billion hertz-brutalizes human cells by vibrating tissues at incredible speeds. The fragile molecules and chemical bonds of DNA cannot withstand being whipped back and forth at millions or billions of times per second. Microwaving the DNA could be described as a cellular version of "shaken baby syndrome." When communications microwaves splinter cellular DNA into a random trail of micronucleated carnage, chromosomes and the genes they carry are reduced to chaos. Chromosomes are the macromolecules containing the genetic information that controls human cellular and reproductive activity. In each double strand helix of human DNA there are 23 pairs of chromosomes, 22 pairs of autosomes and three billion pairs of nucleotide material. Miniscule damage to any of these intricate mechanisms can trigger significant genetic effects. Three recent studies document the development of chromosomal aberrations following cell phone irradiation of living cells. This puts cell phone radiation on par with atomic bomb radiation, which is documented to cause chromosomal abnormalities in nuclear blast survivors. Radiation damage can range from complete DNA strand breaks to tiny point mutations, which are induced by changes in the chemical structure of the nucleotides. Any virus, chemical or radiation that causes DNA/chromosome damage is a mutagen, defined as an agent which causes abnormal changes in the inheritable characteristics of animals or plants. A NATO military document states: "After irradiation, chromosomes appear to be 'sticky' with formation of temporary or permanent interchromosomal bridges, preventing normal chromosome separation during mitosis and transcription of genetic information."(1) Abnormal chromosome division results in abnormal nuclei in daughter cells. Therefore, the systematic microwave destruction of Generation X-ray's DNA, including radical damage to chromosomes, is guaranteed to yield a bounteous harvest of sterility, spontaneous abortion (miscarriage), altered offspring sex ratios, embryo growth retardation, increased perinatal morbidity, fetal malformation, premature birth, low birth weight and cognitive dysfunction in infants.
